May 11-13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily 4642 N. Francisco (at the Francisco Brown Line Stop)
Wondering where to get rare, organic, heirloom tomato seedlings? Want to talk to master gardeners or certified Square Foot Gardening instructors before making a purchase? Then join us for our annual Plant Sale and Fundraiser, where you can buy herb and vegetable seedlings, basic gardening supplies, seeds, gardening gift baskets, and even enjoy tasty baked goods from Chicago pastry chefs. There is no cost for admission, and all proceeds benefit The Peterson Garden Project, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
The Greenhouse Club at Mather High School, who partner with The Peterson Garden Project to grow seedlings for our plant sale and Grow2Give programs as well as for their own school garden, currently has more than 800 organic, heirloom starts growing for us right now. Fascinating heirloom tomato starts include:
- Box Car Willie
- Big Rainbow
- Green Zebra
- Grandfather Ashlock
- Stupice
- Prudens Purple
- Black Krim
At the Plant Sale, we will also have a variety of herbs, pumpkins, cucumbers, eggplants (how about a hybrid called “Kermit?”) and chili peppers available for purchase. Get them while they last!
